Lebanon's Southern Quagmire: Civilians Caught in Escalating Conflict The latest surge in Israeli military activity along the Lebanon Israel border has left civilians reeling.

According to UNIFIL, an average of 137 projectiles were fired into southern Lebanon every day between August 5 16, despite a renewed ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel brokered by the United States.

The deal, inked on June 26, aimed to address the presence of Hezbollah, an Iran backed militant group, in southern Lebanon.
