As the virus continues to spread exponentially, transmission rates set to triple, the arrival of more than 16,000 doses of the Ervebo vaccine offers a glimmer of hope – but also underscores the dire need for more effective solutions.

The World Health Organization's allocation of 70,000 doses is welcome news, particularly given that the Bundibugyo strain currently circulating in the country has no approved treatment or vaccine.
